Faith Whalen, MD, FACMS, FAAD
Board Certified Mohs Surgeon, Board Certified Dermatologist
A native of northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Whalen graduated summa cum laude from the University of Scranton with a BS in Biology. She obtained her M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine and completed a Dermatology Residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA . While at Geisinger, she served as Chief Resident and completed her Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship. Dr. Whalen is double board certified in Dermatology and Mohs Surgery. She has several publications in peer-reviewed journals, with a focus on skin cancer research. Dr. Whalen has enjoyed practicing in Maine since 2014 and has performed over 15,000 Mohs procedures.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and dogs.
Samantha Mitchell, FNP, DCNP
Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner
Samantha Mitchell is a native of Sherman Mills. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Husson College in 2006. She began her career at Eastern Maine Medical Center as a Medical/Surgical RN.
In May 2012, Samantha completed her Master’s of Science in Nursing from the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Husson University. She received her certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and joined a local Dermatology practice, where she worked for almost 12 years.
In 2015, Samantha received her certification as a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner.
Samantha joined Northern Maine Skin Cancer Center in the spring of 2024 but has worked closely with Dr. Whalen for almost 10 years. She currently resides in central Maine with her husband and four children. In her spare time, she enjoys relaxing at the lake with her family.
Sadie austin, PA-C
Physician Assistant
Sadie Austin is a native of Bucksport, ME. She graduated summa cum laude in 2016 from the University of Maine with her bachelor’s of science in Biology. From there, she obtained her Master’s degree with honors in physician assistant studies from the University of New England in May 2019. Since that time, she has worked locally in specialties of occupational medicine, emergency medicine, and neurosurgery. Sadie joined Northern Maine Skin Cancer Center in July of 2025, eager to bring her procedural experience to the dermatology practice.
Outside of the office, Sadie enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
Alana silverman, PA-C
Physician Assistant
Alana Silverman is a native of Oakland, Maine and joins the team at Northern Maine Skin Cancer Center in Bangor, Maine. She graduated from the University of Maine in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and went on to complete her medical training at Drexel University, earning a Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
Alana began her clinical career practicing in Neurosurgery for four years before transitioning her focus to medical dermatology. She spent the next four and a half years serving patients at a local dermatology practice and looks forward to continuing to provide exceptional, dedicated dermatological care to the community.
Currently residing in central Maine, Alana enjoys spending time with her husband and their three dogs, and is an avid equestrian who loves caring for and riding her two horses, Holly and Lovejoy.
