A Non-Surgical Treatment Option for Certain Skin Cancers

At Northern Maine Skin Cancer Center, we offer GentleCure®, a non-surgical treatment option for certain nonmelanoma skin cancers, including basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas.

This treatment uses image-guided superficial radiation therapy to precisely target cancer cells while minimizing impact to surrounding healthy tissue. Care is delivered over a short series of appointments and does not require surgery.

For some patients, GentleCure may be an alternative to surgical treatment, depending on the diagnosis and location of the cancer.

IMAGING & MAPPING

You’ll relax in a treatment chair while ultrasound gel is applied to the site. Using a wand, your provider will visualize the cancer in real time on a screen.
